Installer not working for me in Windows 10, it gets stuck in step 1. Please fix this error.
twalton Featured By Owner 6 days ago
HI, I installed it and it seemed to work perfectly. However, the icons in the sidebar of the windows explorer all look like the default folders. In other words, "Downloads" and "Desktop" for example don't have their own unique icons in the sidebar like they're supposed to. Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

Do not install this with 1709. Attempting an uninstall broke my computer so that I couldn't even log in. I had to use a flash drive to repair windows to an earlier save to even boot again.

Bruh can you teach me How... Broke mine also ..

Im on 1709 and i had no issues with install/uninstall. Depending on what changes you made on your system it could break it on any version.

The Uninstaller doesn't work!
If your icons are messed up after installing this,
Use the installer and select uninstall
then download and run this script…
It will fix your icons.
Sudhs007 Featured By Owner Feb 16, 2018
I opened your bat file as admin and followed the steps and it said "DB deleted" and everything was successful. It said to restart and I did. But after restart too the icons are same. I'm tired. Please help.

Could you upload a folder of icons?

The installer doesn't seem to work, viewing all dlls in Resource Hacker shows the files unchanged.

(Or, just upload the 4 dlls?)

Every time i try to install the icon pack, a message pops up saying that there's a pending reboot operation, even if i try to install it a minute after i turned on my pc wich makes no sense, anybody know what is going on or what i need to be able to install the icons?
(thank you in advance ♥ )
MasterSXtreme Featured By Owner Dec 31, 2017
Welp, fixed it, apparently windows defender activated itself after i installed UXTheme patcher so it wasn't leting change icons :b

Completely messed up my computer. I tried to install it and it didn't show up, so I decided to restart and see if that would make it appear [Also, when I tried to click on the file explorer on Start it said that it couldn't. I had to search for the folder I wanted to open]. When I got to the login screen I typed in my password, the little "Welcome" floated for a few seconds, and then it automatically went back to the login slide [The one before you hit any key or mouse, that has the time on it]. It wasn't simply a wrong password error, because at one point I mistyped and it gave me the wrong password notice.

So THEN I decided to use my restore point. Well, the icon pack managed to fuck that up, too. Because after selecting my restore point and it saying it was restoring and then eventually finalizing [Mind this was going on for a good 30 minutes] it said it failed to restore.

So THEN I decided to try system refresh. Nope, that also wouldn't run.

Finally I was going to surrender to system reset. Welp, that also isn't working, so now I have to download and create the disc image on another computer.

So yeah, this may look pretty, but it's horrible.

werks on my machine.
luco1 Featured By Owner Dec 7, 2017
Happened to me too. You MUST disabled you antivirus BEFORE trying to install the icon pack, because, in order to protect the system files, the security program blocks the overwriting of some essential windows files, leading to a corrupted/broken startup.

Incompatible with w10 x64 (Fall Creator's Update) 1709 OneDrive icons. The cloud icons show as dark squares.

Otherwise, it is perfect! Keep up the beautiful work!

MrSavageBlanket Featured By Owner Nov 7, 2017
My computer screen has had nothing on it for a solid hour it is just grey (color of my windows) should I re-start my computer or leave it another hour. I did what the in structures said; Change to exe and install but all I have is grey I'm running the creators update as well I believe.
13Kenzy Featured By Owner Edited Oct 30, 2017

This iPack also didn't work on my system (Fall Creators Update v. 1709, build 16299.19). But in contrast to the user below having the same issue I did not uninstall the icon pack. Somehow it eventually worked but only in small view on Explorer. Larger icons still show the regular Windows folder icons. I'll attach a screenshot to help explain what's my issue.

What I found out was that Desktop folders were unaffected, but if I were to edit stuff *inside* that folder, the folder will change to your theme. Otherwise, they retain the default Windows appearance. Problemo

However, other folders that are not on the Desktop seem to have shown the iPack's icon... Problemo 2

Other file extensions and small view works fine... Problemo 3

(BEFORE THEY STARTED WORKING!!!) I reset icon cache using Winaero Tweaker and (For good measures) manually using Command Prompt on Administrator and restarted Windows. No dice. Only on this particular session did they really start to work.

Something odd, perhaps Fall Creators Update have had a new imageres.dll or something??

EDIT: They are working now. Very odd, it had to take quite a good amount of time to get every file to show the icon pack
samurai-r Featured By Owner Oct 31, 2017
Hello 13Kenzy, if that is your real name ;),

Your post prompted me to install the icon pack again. But nothing much has changed for me. No green icons still...:(

I'm hoping that somehow they will start working, as in your case (*finger's crossed). How much time it take for you, btw?
13Kenzy Featured By Owner Edited Nov 1, 2017
Hmmm, it took me a couple of days using the PC at least 12 hours a day and a lot of restarts lmao...

They just started popping up one by one XD

P.S. just call me Kenny lmao, 13Kenzy is a cringy name I made back in 2013 when I was immature as ****
samurai-r Featured By Owner Nov 2, 2017
Hi Kenny :),

It has been over 4 days; the divine luck not striking me :P
13Kenzy Featured By Owner Nov 3, 2017
Odd. Maybe try restarting explorer.exe, clearing icon cache
Skytriqqer Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2018  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yay, somehow completly messed up my system.

Uninstalled it already, I had the bug that I couldn't log-in because it immediately brought me back to the log-in screen.
I just restored my PC but now I can't launch some programs anymore. (Avast, Steam, Discord etc.)
samurai-r Featured By Owner Oct 29, 2017

I'm facing an issue. iPack didn't work properly in my system (Creators Update v. 1709, Build 17004.1000). I quickly uninstalled using the same .exe as mentioned in the instructions.

But afterwards, I started facing a variety of problems:
-Taskbar icons are broken as well all the icons inside explorer. Image1 Image2
-file context menu 'Properties' doesn't bring up anything (nor does Alt+Enter)
-Control Panel icons are gone: Nothing shows up in 'View by: Category' Image3 , only item names without icons in 'View by: Large icons/Small icons'
-Opening 'System Properties: System Protection' to restore PC brings up "Catastrophic Failure, error: 0x8000FFF". Image4

Although I was able to restore system using Glary Utilities, but that didn't change anything. Right now I don't have any imageres.dll.backup file. I checked the imageres.dll file (using IconsExtract - NirSoft) and it looks like contains it the original system icons.

I have tried sfc /scannow , but to no avail (No issues).

During the time the icon pack was applied in the system, the only place where the green icons appeared were if I right clicked on the pinned explorer icon (which resembled the icon of an unrecognised exe file, like every other icon in the taskbar).

Looks like I'm in a muddle here. Please help!

P.S: I'm not an experienced user.

can you give to us the old of icons? because we like the old patch icon i think it is complete... thanks.
rvanID Featured By Owner Oct 18, 2017
for the icon like control panel and recycle bin didnt change on the latest ipack file. is it safe to using the manual method using the old file to change the icon?
NicoTiing Featured By Owner Edited Oct 18, 2017
unisira Hey, why the recycle bin, desktop from Remix Icon Pack is not in this pack? I want that more
Squeedball Featured By Owner Oct 13, 2017
it did not change all the icons like the bin and my computer . im on  windows 10 creators update. i saw this icon on YouTube and was installed manually in the tutorial, but now it was all merge on a single installer, do you still have the older version? your icon is so awesome need it so bad. plss.
unisira Featured By Owner Oct 18, 2017
The video must be old the new iPack version just changes the folders and very few icons, it's just to make the folders green.
I don't have the old version and it's not recommended since the format it's not Ipack but if you want it you may want to search for sites that have uploaded themselves.
Keep in mind the old version is only for W10.
Slapshock123 Featured By Owner Oct 20, 2017
Sir can you give to us the link of your old icon patch because we like it.. Thanks, and more power
borisbaer Featured By Owner Oct 13, 2017
Could you perhaps provide the icons without the .exe? Just asking. If you don’t want to that’s also okay.
tim5544 Featured By Owner Oct 12, 2017
The uninstaller does not work. I tried both options "restore default windows icons" and "restore backup made at time of install".  Please tell me how to uninstall this program.
unisira Featured By Owner Oct 18, 2017
Make sure you're using the same installer and you didn't install other ipacks!
Otherwise you can go to Windows/System32 and search for files that start with imageres.dll, you should have one that ends in .backup. (imageres.dll.backup)

CMD as admin

cd C:\Windows\System32

del "C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll"    --> This will delete imageres.dll make sure you HAVE a backup!

rename "C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll.backup" imageres.dll

Do the same in "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" if you have 64 bits system. (cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64)
SomethingLolXD Featured By Owner Oct 4, 2017
When I was uninstalling it I clicked the "restore original windows icons" and it scanned and stuff but after it didn't change the icons. Anyway to restore original icons?
unisira Featured By Owner Oct 6, 2017
Choose the first option (backup made in the installation)
AlanChristianNata Featured By Owner Oct 4, 2017  Student Artist
